Coffee and Beads on the Couch....

The other day I decided to drop in on my friend Leslie, she moved a bit away and we don’t see each other as much as we would like. I was driving up to her beautiful house in the canyon and there she was coming down the hill… We both stopped and she said go on up.. She made me lunch and after looking at the lastest pics of my jewelry that are always in my cell phone, she ordered some bracelets as Christmas gifts… This started me on a spiral stitch kick !! I have done enough to fill her request and then some. I have other friends and family that are going to want help with checking off their Naughty and Nice List. So its Coffee and Beads on the Couch, Ten O’Clock news and Beads on the couch, run home at lunch and beads… just kidding the beads are in my purse at work…

So if anyone besides you Carol, read my blog… and would like to share. Please comment and tell me where do you have your special place that you bead or create? What is the spot that allows your creative muse to run wild?? Kitchen table? Desk? Room? (LUCKY!!) Mine is the couch, surrounded by ALL MY STUFF! So it’s right there to inspire me because you never know what wants to go into that next creation… That way I don’t have to tear through everything to find that one clasp or my 5mm closed rings… And it all puts away quickly if needed : )

Have a wonderful day and weekend…

Well, I for one, think its amazing that you can create the beautiful pieces that you do, sitting on the couch. I have to have a solid surface that I can rest my arms on. And how in the world do you keep those beautiful beads from popping up and finding that tiny space between the cushion and the arm! I can't stand to lose even one bead and must find my baby. LOL

LOL I just know that when I lift that cushion there will be "bead soup" under it...

Thanks !!! Love, Deb

I've got about 6 feet of wall space in my living room, that house a bookshelf, a wall shelf hung at table height, storage bins under it and a pocket style hanging shoe rack above to hold all kinds of supplys and beads, when I want to work I Set up a tray table and a kitchen chair right next to it. If I can ever get it to look nice I'll take a picture.

I can't bead on the couch either.

I have taken over my "formal" dining room (which was never used anyhow!). My sideboard buffet now holds containers of beads and my china cabinet no longer displays my "good china" - just my beadwork! I moved the table up against a wall which is mostly window, so I have lots of natural light too. Sometimes I relocate to the kitchen table, if I'm in the middle of a project on my 'studio' table and don't want to pack it all up to work on a class project or just something different. Working on a couch must have it's advantages though - at least your beads fall into the cushion - mine tend to go right onto the carpet and make such a sad sound when the vacuum sucks them up!
